HEATHER WOOD
MIXED MEDIA ARTIST
Recently my art work has been concentrating on acrylic paintings and life drawing.
Life drawing is always a challenge and requires practice and patience. I find it very rewarding and often a source of great enjoyment and also immense frustration. I feel it keeps an artist honest.
Living in Port Fairy and facing the Southern Ocean provides me with many wonderful subjects created by the raw power of the elements and its shaping of this coastline. The resulting ‘Dune Series’ were exhibited at Tacit Gallery in Collingwood.
My latest paintings are a result of visiting Mallacoota and seeing the devastation of the catastrophic bushfires but also the extraordinary recovery of the bush.
I was also been commissioned to paint the beautiful landscape in the Strathbogie Ranges in Nort East Victoria, enormous basalt rocks, gullies and bushland. I spent a lot time riding horses through this special country.
My work has been exhibited in Mansfield, Warrnambool and two solo exhibitions in Collingwood. I was also a partner in Whalebone Gallery in Port Fairy for five years. My work is in private collections around Australia, the USA and Europe.
